“Every rescue has a story, and every story deserves to be told.”
I wanted to share a heartwarming story with you about a special dog who has been a beloved part of our family for many years.
This story dates back to 2010. From a young age, I always had a passion for helping puppies find homes in my area. Before Oxsa Nepal came into existence, I personally facilitated over 200 adoptions.
One hot summer day in 2010, on my way to college, I encountered a small, skinny brown puppy. Unlike typical playful puppies, she appeared malnourished and frail, with no sign of her mother nearby.
Unable to ignore her condition, I gently picked her up and took her home.
The puppy, whom we later named Pinky.
She was initially scared and weak. She tried to hide under furniture, but my priority was to nourish her.
Seeing the hunger in her eyes, I offered her food. Despite initial fear in her eyes, she was too hungry to ignore the food I offered her.
She ate as if she had not eaten for days. I fed and took care of her for days Unfortunately, my emotional response led to overfeeding, resulting in diarrhea. Thankfully, Pinky recovered quickly.
Pinky soon became an integral part of our family but finding her a permanent home wasn’t easy.
Despite posting her pictures on social media and reaching out to animal lover groups, many potential adopters preferred male puppies or weren’t the right fit for her.
Nevertheless, Pinky found her place with us and has been a source of joy and companionship ever since.
I believe everything happens for a reason and I believe having Pinky in our life was meant to be and we are grateful to have Pinky by our side.
Now at 14 years old, Pinky is enjoying her golden years, happy and healthy. She has proven herself to be a wonderful companion, and I can’t help but feel sorry for those who overlooked her simply because she was female.
They definitely missed the love and companionship they could have had with Pinky.
Pinky’s story is a reminder that every animal deserves a chance, and the bond formed through adoption is truly priceless.
Thank you for taking the time to read Pinky’s story.
Do you think it’s fair to adopt dogs based on their gender? What differences do you notice in the love of male dogs and female dogs?
