I wanted to share a story that’s been on my mind lately, one that might resonate with you and remind us all of the power of our choices. Eight years ago, two special visitors came into our lives – Lucy and Seru.
These adorable puppies were born in the bushes behind our house, facing the harsh reality of life as street dogs from the very beginning.
Their mother, Bhunti, has given birth to many puppies. Some died on the streets, and others died from chronic diseases. We tried very hard to spay Bhunti to end this suffering, but she was difficult to catch.
Despite all our efforts, she gave birth to five puppies again. Three didn’t survive, but two did: Lucy and Seru.
We did what we could to help them, providing food and shelter, but life on the streets was never easy. One day, while working in the shelter, I heard a noise coming from the back door. When I opened it, I saw Lucy and Seru.
As soon as I opened the door, they came inside and lay down on the floor to sleep. Later that night, Bhunti was desperately searching for them and even came to our doorstep, but Lucy and Seru were not ready to go back to the streets.
They chose to leave the streets behind and seek the comfort of a loving home. It was a brave choice, one that many street dogs dream of but never get the chance to make.
Bhunti, though sad at first, eventually found joy in her puppies’ happiness and their daily visits.
They have grown into very handsome adults and now enjoy their lives in our shelter. Street dogs like Lucy and Seru often have no options, and not all of them are as lucky as they were.
But by making mindful choices, we can offer them hope and a chance for a better life. Each time we choose to help, to care, or to love, we create a positive change in the world around us.
This story is not just about two dogs; it’s about the impact of our decisions.
By choosing to act with kindness and compassion, we can make a significant difference in the lives of others, whether they walk on two legs or four.
I hope it encourages you to think about the choices you make and the difference they can make in the world. Let’s continue to make choices that spread compassion and love.
The world becomes a better place when we choose to make a difference
