I’m back with another story about a furry friend we met last December.
It’s a tale of love, compassion, and the responsibilities we have towards our pets, especially when they need us the most.
A Cold Evening Encounter
It was a chilly evening when we first saw him, a dog that seemed to be a local breed, wandering aimlessly with a swollen belly. He appeared sad and hungry with his ribs clearly visible.
What caught our attention was the collar around his neck, decorated with a shiny anklet.
This small detail hinted that he might have been lost or abandoned, filling us with sadness and determination. We immediately set out to find his family.
Searching for Khairey’s Family
We named him Khairey and asked the nearby neighborhood, posted his picture on social media, and shared his story in various community groups, hoping someone would recognize him.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we couldn’t reunite him with his owners.
A Heartbreaking Diagnosis
We called the vet to check if he was suffering from any illness. Unfortunately, we found out that Khairey had kidney problems and required urgent treatment.
Without any hesitation, we took him to the hospital and made sure he received the care he needed. Watching him endure the treatments was heartbreaking but we knew it was necessary for his survival.
A Fight for Life
Khairey fought for his life for a whole month. He showed incredible strength and resilience. However, sadly he passed away in the end fighting every step of the way.
This incident opened our eyes to a sad reality: some pets are abandoned when they fall ill. Many forget that like us, dogs also age and suffer from illness.
The Sad Reality
It’s heartbreaking how often dogs are seen as less important family members, discarded when they need love and care the most. Khairey didn’t choose his family, yet he suffered because of them.
His story is a powerful reminder of the promise we make when we bring a dog into our lives. We vow to stand by them in sickness and in health, through every situation, never giving up on them until their last breath.

Dogs, with their unwavering loyalty and unconditional love, deserve nothing less from us. I believe you’ve made a similar promise to your furry friend.
