Have you ever walked or spent time outside during the freezing winters of Nepal? It’s freezing cold, isn’t it?
It’s unimaginable to think about what happens to puppies abandoned in such cold, but let me share a heartwarming story with you. It was on December 24, 2017.
I can still recall that dark, silent, bitterly cold night in Nepal when everything changed for four little furry lives.
It was a dark and silent night, around 3 AM, when I was suddenly awakened by the sound of puppies barking.
Knowing there were no puppies in our area, I was surprised and worried by the sound of puppies barking coming from our area. So, I decided to investigate our area and set out to find them.
Following the sound, I discovered four tiny puppies near the tube well, shivering in the cold and soaked from the drainage water.
It was heartbreaking to think someone had abandoned these innocent babies.
Without any delay, I quickly brought them to our shelter. They were shivering so badly that it took some time to warm them and remained silent afterward.
They were so adorable that I couldn’t wait to name them. I named them Dony, Sumnima, Baby, and Sam.
I didn’t know where they came from or who their mother was, but it was clear they were used to being around people. As they grew, I planned to find them loving homes once they were a month old.
However, life had other plans. They all fell ill with Parvo, a severe disease that took another month of care and treatment for them to recover.
By the time they were two months old, they were healthy again.
However, finding homes for them proved challenging. Many people prefer small, cute puppies over those who have already endured hardships. Others were seeking guard dogs rather than family pets.
Sometimes, dogs in streets appear happier than those confined in small cages. And we didn’t want that fate for these puppies.
That’s why we chose to keep them in our shelter. Today, Dony, Sumnima, Baby, and Sam are still with us, brightening our days with joy and love.
They are spoiled and pampered, always craving attention and affection.
Their journey from abandoned puppies to beloved members of our shelter family is a testament to resilience and the power of love.
