Have you ever gone a whole day without eating? Maybe once or twice, but for most of us, it’s hard to imagine going much longer without any food.
Now, imagine being a street dog relying on the mercy of strangers to find your next meal. These innocent creatures cannot tell or express that they are hungry and often they go days without food or water.
It’s a harsh reality of many of the street animals in our community.
The Daily Struggle for Survival
It is easy for us to find food. We have money and the ability to ask for help but for street animals, survival is a constant battle. They wander around restaurants, butcher shops, and even dumpsites hoping to find scraps of food.
They rely on humans for their survival because they can neither hunt nor take care of themselves. These dogs often face heartbreaking rejection.
Imagine searching through garbage for food and being kicked away when you look at someone with hopeful eyes. Hunger is a universal feeling.
Just like us, these street dogs feel it deeply. They don’t understand that food costs money, they just know they are hungry and in need.
A Small Gesture and A Big Impact
Many of these street dogs are malnourished and sick. They depend on our kindness to survive.
By sharing a piece of bread or a small part of our meal, we can make a big difference in their lives. Kindness does not cost anything but it means everything to them. A small act of compassion can go a long way.
Think about it: If each of us made a small effort to feed a stray dog or offer a bit of comfort, we could make a huge difference. It is a simple gesture but it has a big impact. These animals need us and it is our responsibility to take care of the creatures we share this planet with.
For the past 15 years, we have been feeding over 350 community dogs everyday and we know we cannot make a huge difference alone. We need your help to make a meaningful impact.
Here is a simple action step: Feed one biscuit or a bit of rice to 3-5 dogs everyday. Over time, this small gesture will become a habit and the joy we see in those dogs faces will make our efforts worthwhile.
This may seem like a small gesture but imagine if hundreds and thousands of us join in. Together, we could feed more community dogs everyday across different areas. By helping these strays dogs, we are making our community a better place for everyone.
