Today, I want to share a deeply troubling and heart-wrenching experience from our recent spaying campaign in the Lalitpur community.
This story is not just about animals; it’s about our shared responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us.
During our campaign in Lalitpur, we encountered many dogs that had recently given birth to puppies.
But surprisingly, we couldn’t see any puppies there.
At first, I thought maybe people had adopted them. Later, a local resident told me what had happened to those puppies, and I was shocked to hear it.
As soon as the puppies were born, locals threw them into the river before they even opened their eyes, believing this act would release them from any sin.
Wait, what? I was filled with anger, and tears streamed down my face.
I couldn’t believe what people could do in the name of their so-called beliefs. This belief is not just a myth or misunderstanding—it’s a form of cruelty that amounts to murder.
Taking a life, regardless of the justification, is inexcusable. Life is precious, whether it belongs to a human or an animal.
Witnessing such brutality against innocent puppies is completely disturbing and heartbreaking. These tiny beings, who haven’t even had a chance to experience life, are subjected to unimaginable suffering.
It’s our duty to raise awareness and educate our community about the importance of treating animals with kindness and compassion. Imagine the helplessness of a newborn puppy, thrown into the cold, rushing water, with no understanding of why it’s being punished.
This is not just an act of cruelty; it’s a failure of our humanity. That’s why we, at Oxsa Nepal Animal Welfare Society, are dedicated to spaying and neutering.
Sometimes, it’s very difficult to change people’s belief systems. That’s why we focus on spaying and neutering as many street dogs as possible. Because we believe this is the only way to put an end to the suffering of both mothers and newborn puppies.
Those already here are suffering from numerous brutal acts that we often see on Facebook or other channels. But we truly don’t want to bring more into a world where their lives are not valued as those of living beings.
Being born in this world should be a beautiful experience, but for a street dog, it’s horrifying. So we urge you to spay your community dogs. Together, we can break the cycle of cruelty on these innocent beings.
